Went into the At Home Oconnor WA store and bought a table. 2 week wait for availability. no problem. table became available. i went to pay. looked at table before paying. was in quite a small room with bad light. looked OK, paid balance. when friends arrived and the table was moved outside, we saw two dents in the legs and bad quality finish on table top. advised that i am not happy with it and would probably need a replacement but my wife needs to come and see it as she needs to be happy with the table. Lynn, the attendant advised that she could reorder one and have it delivered to us free of charge but agreed my wife needs to see this one first. OK so far, although i caught the attendant rolling her eyes while talking to the manager on the phone.She advised manager will call to discuss and my wife can see the table to decide what we want to do. Paul, the manager did not call, we tried to get a hold of him repeatedly. when my wife finally got in touch with him he advised the table had been returned to the warehouse and the new one will be in next week. My Wife didnt even get a chance to see it. he advised to come and pick it up when it comes in. we reminded him that we have been promised free delivery by Lynn and it is too difficult to organise friends again(parents who live north of the river). Paul was very unfriendly and accused us of causing a 'ruckus' in the store. we did not, unless he is referring to us comparing the table top to the one on the shop floor. he was not even there and got the details from "Lynn the eye roller". He advised it will be here tuesday and no delivery. he was very rude and unhelpful to my wife, and she was upset by the exchange. She advised him that we are not happy with the way it was handled and would like a refund. manager refused, we said we would like to come in and discuss it with him, He said maybe he will be there, maybe he wont be there when we come in. whole experience, although not the most serious of world events, made a simple scenario unpleasant. We were spending hard earned cash on a product we envisage getting many years of use from and being an asset to our home. It was handled completely without any class or customer service. Paul obviously has no customer service skills and is not concerned about repeat business, or maybe he just doesnt care. we have a whole house to furnish! it is no real suprise that the store has always been basically devoid of customers whenever we have been in there. we will not be buying furniture from At Home Oconnor ever again and we would strongly advise no one else to either. Theres plenty of competition out there with good value to be had with professional customer service.
