Oh my god I can't believe my eyes and ears, back in 2008 we employed this company to come and move an existing air con unit to allow for and extension. At first I found Alwyn to be quite pleasant ( although was very forthcoming with personal information telling me he had been very ill in the past). My first problem seemed to be with the contractor he had employed to move the unit, he was very hard to warm to and not very professional. He left a lot of mess in my children's bedrooms, dropping all the insulation onto beds and leaving it there????. We had requested a heat reversal unit to be installed above our wood fire, only to have them install the distributing grate in the wrong bedroom. As it was winter time there was no hurry to come back and re wire the existing air con, however when it did become time and we were ready for a new unit upstairs, Alwyn was no where to be found. I lost count of the amount of phone messages I left for him to no avail. It was only after I had received advise from the Dept of Consumer protection and actually wrote to Mr Healy was I able to have someone come out and re connect my existing Air Con, Needless to say I had given the business of installing a new unit to another company. When the contractor came out he laid the blame completely at Mr Healys feet, (this seemed to be a favourite of theirs as Alwyn had done exactly the same thing to him) .Disgusting behaviour I certainly hope he gets shut down and never gets the chance to rip anyone else off.

Turn up the heat - 'dodgy' air-con man back Chalpat Sonti
January 19, 2011 - 7:31AM
A notorious Perth air-conditioning installer appears to be back to his old ways.
Alwyn Healy, who has been in the crosshairs of authorities for several years over dozens of complaints of failing to deliver or install air-conditioners after accepting payment, appears to have breached a court order for the second time in little more than a year, and shortly after being handed a suspended jail sentence.
Mr Healy was given a suspended 20-day term by the WA Supreme Court in November, after being found guilty of six charges of contempt of court. They related to the Aircon Factory Direct business he ran.
Advertisement: Story continues below Mr Healy had given the court an undertaking a year earlier that he would adhere to timeframes relating to installing air-conditioners - including informing if he could not - 24 hours before a scheduled installation, ordering and paying for all parts within two working days of entering into a contract, and responding to customer inquiries within 48 hours.
The suspended sentence was handed down by Justice Kenneth Martin, who described Mr Healy as "dodgy".
"The circumstances of each contempt are undoubtedly serious," Justice Martin said.
"It is distressing for a consumer to sign a contract only to receive nothing and, worse, not to be told anything."
It was the latest in a long string of run-ins with the authorities, including a five-year ban on being a director by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission in 2003, after three companies collapsed owing more than $6 million.
Consumer Protection commenced court proceedings against Mr Healy and got the court-enforceable undertakings in 2009.
In May 2010 Mr Healy was ordered to pay about $16,000 in damages after two trials in the Perth Magistrates Court. They were part of eight seperate civil actions, with the other six being settled pre-trial.
Consumer Protection also issued a warning last year that Mr Healy was operating under the business name Dual Cycle Airconditioning, but the latest complaint relates to a business named Healthy Home Airconditioning.
Warnbro man Neil Gill, who has forwarded his complaint to Consumer Protection, told WAtoday.com.au that he responded to a newspaper advertisement by Mr Healy in November.
Taken in by Mr Healy's manner - "he was a nice polite bloke to talk to, but I wish I knew then what I know now" - Mr Gill handed over $1990 as a 50 per cent deposit for an air-conditioning unit for a rental property he owned.
The cheque was to be made payable to "AFD" - shorthand for the former company Aircon Factory Direct - with an approximate installation date of December 21.
Mr Gill recently received a text supposedly from Mr Healy saying the unit would be installed at the weekend. That deadline came and went with no word from Mr Healy, with Mr Gill unsuccessfully trying to contact him.
Mr Healy earlier told him he had ordered the air-conditioner from Welshpool supplier Global Machinery.
A Global Machinery spokesman told WAtoday.com.au that Mr Healy - "who comes across as a real smooth operator" - came into the business asking it to order some units "but nothing ever eventuated".
That was after he gave Mr Gill the docket.
"Someone in the office looked him up on the computer and found out all this stuff about him," the spokesman said.
"Once we found out, we put the hard word on him and obviously nothing was going out the door unless he paid first. We haven't heard from him again."
Mr Healy claimed that he had not breached any of his court conditions.
"This business we're operating now, it's actually not my business," he told WAtoday.com.au.
"I stopped trading in July last year. I'm actually working on a commission basis. I haven't breached any conditions. I'm just getting on top of things now."
However, he did not say who owned the business.
Mr Healy claimed delays stemmed from his mother becoming ill in November, and he said she passed away on Christmas Eve.
"I took a few days off. The problem was I took my eye off the ball. The installation teams didn't actually perform as they were supposed to and very hot weather caused some installation delays. In January we had two or three days of wet weather and then some hot weather, and we ended up five or six jobs behind schedule."
Mr Healy also claimed that there were problems with a manufacturer in South Australia, which he said had two major breakdowns, leading to shortages.
He claimed he spoke to Mr Gill before sending him the text message, but Mr Gill denied any conversation took place.
Mr Healy said he tried to contact Mr Gill further, but could only get through to his voicemail. However, Mr Healy said he would install the unit today.
WAtoday.com.au also tried to call the landline number supplied by Mr Healy to his customers.
A woman answered the landline phone number he has given out. She said the business name was "Inspired Roof Restorations".
When asked where Mr Healy was, she said "he's not a member of this company".
"He may have been an old tenant of the building and has since moved premises," she said.
A Consumer Protection spokesman said the agency was continuing to investigate Mr Healy, but could not comment further as proceedings were still before the Supreme Court on other matters.
we had a meeting with Alwyn Healy on the 30/11/2010 we put a deposit down of $2410 with the promise the unit would be in by the 14/12/2010 as time went on after phone call after phone call and excuse after excuse the system never went in and now 18/01/2011 we cant get hold of him he has our money we are a young couple first home buyers we have scraped to get the money and now it almost seems it has gone we cant afford another one. I cant believe he is stil able to trade and advertise in the paper if anyone knows how I can get hold of him I would love to hear from you 0457571192
PLEASE BE AWARE OF "ALWYN HEALY" after careful digging I have found him ripping of customers for over 20 years banned for owning or being involved in aircon companys several times, Has been on currentaffair shows, well known in aircon industry & after your 1 of the lucky ones to have your aircon installed you think u have piece of mind 5 years warranty WHAT A JOKE HA HA HA My story is we had aircon with heat exchange installed brand new house 10/09/06 within days we had the company back 4 times, pipes dragged thru sand blocking it. Mould stains appeard on ceiling winter 07 under aircon but not covered by warranty cause we had a extra wet winter (paid 4 weatherproofsystem), 08 aircon slipped down roof, tried for warranty but was told had no records of us purchasing aircon even though had proof of bank transfers to AIRCON FACTORY DIRECT,had 2 aircon companys out 2 fix at our own expense but when they knew it was his work they wouldnt touch it, We had a friend in an aircon buisness make sure it was safe as we didnt have the money 2 replace it outright, apparently parts on our aircon r blacklisted as ALWYN HEALY took our money but didnt pay company he bought the parts from 2 build aircons ,dont have to worry anymore FOUND LOTS OF PARTS 2 OUR AIRCON ON FRONT LAWN THIS MORNING,BLEW STRAIGHT OF ROOF & OVER HOUSE (24/10/09) great for a aircon with 5 years warranty!!!!! We have filed reports & tried lots of things even visiting this mans private home suprise surprise he runs AIRCON FACTORY DIRECT from home 10 Rosedale Vista Hocking WA 6065 ,He only advertises in sundaytimes & satwest magazine so u think his legite I'M HORRIFIED TO READ OTHER RECENT COMPLAINTS THAT THIS MANS STILL WORKING IN AIRCON INDUSTRY!!!!!! Aircon cost us a whopping $5080.00!!!!!
We have paid for 6 airconditioning units to be installed.
We have not received the units and the individual cannot be contacted.
DO NOT USE AIRCON FACTORY DIRECT- Alwyn Robert Healy is a crook and a complete liar. We had and air con installed which was a discrace. They never return calls, wont come back, damage walls, install units with no professionalism. They are an absolute discrace to the air-conditioning department.
Like many others I have had nothing but problems with Alwyn Healy at Aircon Factory Direct. We suspect he used an unlicensed electrician to install our evaporative airconditioning. This is now being investigated by Western Power. We have had no sign off documents. We are having to pay to have the incorrectly installed work put right. He has taken the money (all bar $500) for a solar exchange heating unit but we only have the wall controller. Having gone up into the loft we now realise that there is no equipment to do the solar bit. His comment of 'waiting for a small part' appears to be a gross understatement or a bare faced lie. He is refusing to answer the phone or the letter we have sent and we are effectively several thousand dollars out of pocket. This man should be locked up for a very long time. I can't understand why he hasn't been. According to infomation on the internet he allegedly stole from his employees by not paying their super but putting it on wage slips that he had and then going bankrupt. Someone has to do something to stop this con man.
It seems that there is a long, long line of people waiting for Mr Alwyn Healy to come and complete the heat pump side of their evaporative aircon system. We have been waiting since december 13th, the eventual and many time delayed install date of our evap system. Yesterday, the 20th of april 2009, i finally managed to find Mr Healy at his listed business adress, and again i was told that he was waiting for parts to arrive! Perhaps a class action is required, as DOCEP seems to be a toothless tiger when it comes to this shyster!
We originally arranged to have the heating/cooling evaporative system installed back in late 2007. After LOTS and LOTS of phonecalls and stuffing around on our part we finally got it installed in about May of 2008. It was funny how Alwyn didn't stop hassling to get his cash, some $5000, but then once paid dissappeared and failed to follow up or provide any customer service at all, for over 6 mths.
Once installation day finally came round, we were given a dodgy job that installed the cooling, but told they would be back to finish the installation of the heating as didn't have all parts available. We were given a time frame of 6 weeks. Well it is now March 2009 and we still have a half finished job!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were sent numerous letters throughout 2008, promising everything from finished installation to rebates due to delays, but surprise, surprise, nothing!!!!
We are a family with 6 kids and it was a huge expense for us. We just want what we paid for and for Alwyn to be stopped!!!
Where do I start! Aircon Factory Direct is run by a con man by the name of Alwyn Robert Healy of 10 Rosedale Vista, Hocking WA 6065. On the 5th attempt of getting reverse cycle airconditioning installed we have had nothing but trouble with this company and man. On the day of installation, the team putting the grille into the ceiling in the hallway, damaged a number of places and then having to "tidy" it up. This then needed repainting. On the afternoon of installation, one of the team fell through our home theatre ceiling making a massive hole and with insulation making a mess of the entire room! The house was only 3 weeks old at this point. As you can imagine we were not happy about this.
The electrician phoned Alwyn Healy to tell him what had happened but did Alwyn Healy call us and apologise on behalf of HIS employee? No way. I got onto our builders who gave me the name of the people that installed the ceiling as I wanted to get a quote so I know Alwyn Healy wouldn't rip me off! Well the next day, I had a phone call from our builder who asked if Alwyn Healy was with me. I said he had never been into our house and never would! Apparently Alwyn Healy rang the builders and made out that he was in our house and with me at that very point in time and that it was HE who came through our ceiling. This made me very cautious in that I didn't believe he had insurance to cover our costs of the repair.
The following morning an electrician turned up for what we expected was to connect our system up so we could use it. Well not so. The electrician said he had to wait for his boss Alwyn Healy to get the vac so the pipes could be vacuumed and then the system had to be gassed. We had no idea at this point in time when we would be able to use our system.
Alwyn Healy turned up at our house, knocked on the garage door that leads into the hallway and walked in without being invited - he would not have been allowed over the doorstep! When I told him to get out he told me not to be stupid!! I shouted for my husband to come and while he was coming from another area of the house, Alwyn Healy physically pushed past me into the home theatre to see the hole in the ceiling. My husband asked Alwyn Healy to leave the premises and he was also told not to be stupid. My husband asked yet again to get off the premises which Alwyn Healy then moved back into the garage. I asked him why he hadn't phoned us re the ceiling and his comment was "why would I bother to phone YOU"! I told him that as an employer he should have called us to apologise and to organise the repairs to the ceiling. He called me MAD and as he was walking away he said he wouldn't speak to me as I was mad and would only speak to my husband who said that whatever Alwyn Healy had to say to him could be said in front of me. Alwyan Healy then just walked off laughing. Well needless to say Alwyn Healy NEVER returns any calls or emails or even registered mail - he doesn't collect it!
As one can imagine with christmas upon us, we wanted our house to look nice as we had guests arriving and people from overseas. We never heard a word from Alwyn Healy so we went ahead and got a quote ourselves and paid for the damages out of our own money.... just over $1,000. We still owed Aircon Factory Direct $1500 so we would not pay the balance until the ceiling was paid for. We have NEVER received an invoice. We had the wrong size unit installed. We were told we would have a 16kw motor but only received a 14.75 as they do not make the 16 kw anymore. Fair enough but there was a difference of $700 in units and that was told to us by Aircon Factory Direct Installer who phoned the company that the unit came from. We also had to pay for the ducting before installation could take place as Alwyn Healy owes so much money around the place that he can't get credit!! He went bankrup in 2002 owing over $6million dollars!! YET he can still trade even though he has to wait 5 yrs before trading.
He trades under many many different names. We have written to Dept of Consumer and Employment Protection (DOCEP) and phoned Australian Securites Investment Commission.
We were a few weeks ago served by Alwyn Healy himself a Minor Case Claim for the amount we owe him plus costs!! The idiot filled out the form incorrectly so I phoned Joondalup Magistrates Court to tell them that the claim was then Null and Void. The person I spoke to said yes it was void and that they would have to get in touch with Alwyn Healy to let him know.
We then lodged online a General Procedure Claim to stop us from having to pay the balance until the ceiling problem was fixed. Well,a lady phoned from Joondalup Magistrates Court to let me know that no one ever answers the door at Aircon Factory Direct address which is the residential address as well as the business address. We then had to do a business name search and email it back to the court who will then STICK the claim to the residential/business address of Aircon Factory Direct/Alwyn Robert Healy. Next we received in the mail an amendment from the Jonndalup Magistrates Court to say a mistake was made in lodging the form and that there would be a hearing in March to allow the mistake to go ahead - I think! We were not at all happy about this as we were told that Alwyn Healy would have to lodge a new claim.
At the end of the day, we will not be paying him the balance of the monies owed to him until he pays us the money we have spent on getting the ceiling fixed and also paying another company to come out and commission our system.
Also, our daughter and son in law were having an evapourative system with solar fan installed on the same day as ours system. They had their system installed MINUS the solar fan as parts were on order. This system was ordered back in Jun 2008 yet the part is not ready?? The solar fan will not work!! This I have had on good authority.
I have been in touch with another customer who is still waiting on the solar fan but once again no return phone calls just that the solar fan will be installed soon!!
We are sick to death of this man getting away with murder. He is messing with peoples lives let alone carrying on businesses that he should not be managing. PLEASE PLEASE do something about him!!!!
Alwyn Healy is well known to DOCEP, ASICS and Channel 7 Today Tonight. Back in November there was an article about Aircon Factory Direct and Alwyn Healy. He just lied through his teeth about everything. He has to be STOPPED!!!
Aircon Factory Direct have yet to in stall a roof space air pump in an airconditioning unit installed in December.
After a saga to have the installation done in the first place some two months later I have heard nothing from them. Alwyn Healy, the operator of the business, does not appear to keep his word when he gives an installation date.
On three occassions a representative from the business made an appointment for installation, only to not honour it. No explanation of apology was forthcoming. The unit was finally installed (poorly) some two months behind schedule, sans the airpump.
They will not come out to fix an Aiconitioning problem for the last 3 months, They say they will be there next week but i don't hear from them.
