AVOID AMACE REMOVALS!
Booked in my removal and all was ok til moving day.
Then about an hour before they were meant to arrive they called to say a truck had broken down but assured me they were organising another one and it would be around 12 that they'd get to me (a 3 hour delay on the schedule). So I called the cleaners that I had booked to clean the place once it was empty and had to pay a half hour penalty to move their time. Spoke to the company a couple of times throughout the morning to confirm all was on track. Then at about quarter past 12 I rang the company to ask how far away they were and the guy now tells me that they wouldnt get to me until at least 3pm or possibly the next day. I asked him why he hadn't been telling me that throughout the morning, why he could not have been honest with me up front in the morning so that I could at least have looked for another company. He started to get defensive, things escalated and then he took great delight in telling me that he was cancelling my job, that they wouldnt be coming to me at all and I'd have to look for another company - knowing that it was now afternoon and I'd have buckleys of finding anyone.
Lucky for me, I did find someone but at much higher cost due to short notice.. but my advice is to stay away from AMACE Removals - another company that I called in quest for a replacement removalist had heard of other bad stories about this company and said they were too small to be reliable. But I found them through a website that is meant to give referrals to decent companies. Beware!
