Babylon Wedding Cars (New South Wales, Australia)

2008-07-04

We hired our wedding car for 6 hours at a price of $550 (from 11am - 5pm). The wedding car did not arrive as scheduled. The driver called 20 mins after the scheduled time to ask for directions as he said "he was lost"!!. We tried to help him out. He then hung up and said he would find it. By that time we were 40 mins late. After having no further news, we tried to call the company's office. After many attempts of phones being unanswered, we got through to another person who then advised the car had had a minor accident and was no longer coming. A replacement car was to be arranged.

After 1.5 hours of waiting, we decided we just had to go to the church ceremony in our friends grey car.

The ceremony concluded at about 3pm. And what do you know, the 'replacement' wedding car was outside of the church. We then used the car for 2 hours to take us to our photo shoot and then to the wedding reception at 5pm. But, as you can imagine, the car was not there for the most important part of the day which was entering the church. We did not take any photos with the car so we may as well have caught a taxi!!

We requested a partial refund due to the fact that we only used the car for 2 hours instead of 6. We were given only $150 refund. We wrote letters and contacted them several times requesting an extra $200 (based on hourly rates), and we were constantly given the run around saying that the matter was still to be discussed at their meeting.

Many meetings later, they still never contacted us. We are now lodging a formal complaint with the office of fair trading, but I want to warn everyone, avoid using this company!!!
They have been very unhelpful in resolving this matter.
