I went through Blakers Taxation Business Services last year to do my 2008 tax. It was the first time for me going through a company and my partner had a bad experience with a previous company so we thought we would give this company a try.
The guy who had processed our taxation was very helpful, and we were happy with the service we had received.
However with the Kevin Rudd bonus, we saw another side to the company. I had paid for both mine and my partners tax fees through my account. But for some reason, my partner cheque was sent straight from the ATO, and mine was sent into Blakers Trust account. When I received my cheque, the amount of $38.50 was taken out from my cheque without my authority or consent as administration fees???
In the letter I received, was the consent form to give them authority to take out there administration and GST fee, although they had already taken this out of my cheque!!
When i phoned the company principal to find out why i was charged these fee's, he did not speak English very well, and it was very hard to understand him. He was extremely rude and told me that because I didn’t pay my fees upfront and because i didn’t change some account (I’m not sure what he meant here since I gave my bank details to pay for both mine and my partner fee) the money was sent into Blakers Trust account and they had to print a cheque to send to me. When I told him I didn’t understand what he was saying and that I had my documents from the appointment, he started talking a lot faster and more aggravated which made it even harder to understand him. I explained that my boyfriend and i had done the exact same process together and I hadn't heard of anyone else being charged any fees. He once again got aggravated and tried to tell me it didn’t matter that we had done the same process. The principal said that he would take down my name and number and call me back, in which I replied I would call him after I had received more facts. He hung up.
I was left very confused and angry since I was simply asking why it had happened. I never got a proper answer and wondered why as soon as I had asked why, he was already extremely aggravated and rude to me. I called my boyfriend and asked him what he thought about the situation, but since I didn’t have much to tell, he decided to call himself and find out what was going on.
When I spoke to my boyfriend afterwards he said that the principal couldn't explain himself and it was hard understand him due to the langue barrier. He said that the principal had told him there were two options on the letter and hung up on him!!!
As i skimmed through the letter for the 5th time, I saw no options other then the one that asks me to give consent and a statement of the fees. So this principal of the company could not give us a valid explanation for these fees, told different stories and was extremely rude to his clients!
Had i received a explanation on this process and fee of $38.50 for printing a cheque, i wouldn't have pushed the issue. But due to the unbelievably rude behaviour of this so called principal Cyril Corentin for Blakers Taxation & Business Service, it's only right that others know. I am baffled that a principal can treat his clients in such a disrespectful and rude way. Because of this immature behaviour, Blakers has truly lost my business!
