Same problem as so many other responders. Our split system A/C came as an inclusion in the purchase of a new home. It was installed by the person employed by the retailer and seemed to be functioning OK till about two weeks ago. The cooling cycle had been inaccurate for some time beforehand (according to the temperature set on the remote), but at least it was still working. Our area has experienced severely hot days for over a week now and from Thursday 15th January, the cooling cycle has not operated at all! The installer has been and stated that the compresser motor isn't switching on - i.e. the motor appears to hve seized. Several emails to Conia, a fax to the Sales dept. in melbourne have gone unanswered, and we get the identical "the mail bag is full, please call again later" useless response. The retailer states that Conia's warranty only covers repair, but..... that's if anyone can be contacted !! Meanwhile, we, like others, suffer from a useless unit and nil action on the part of the service agents, as well as the retailer "C.P."

Bought a conia air conditioner in July 2006. It was working fine until October 2007 when it decided to stop blowing cold air. Contacted Conia service center and they send a technician to have a look. The technician came, have a look and just said that the unit is too small for the room. Very strange as it's been working for 1 year and sometimes it was even too cold and have to turn it off. Call the service center again and leave messages but never heard anything from them again. For those people looking to buy air conditioner, definitely stay away from conia. They are cheap and offer 3 years warranty but when a problem arise they blame something else so that they don't have to honor the warranty.
Conia is distributed by Pebble Electronics (http://www.pebble-ltd.com.au/) and the warranty is looked after by them as well. I would assume you will have the same problem if you buy konka and hicon brand which are distributed by the same company.
