I had bought a 7 piece dining table & Chair from Eureka Street Pty Ltd, McGregor Sore. which has been returned to their warehouse as there was faulty workmanship involved and $140.00 in total has been deducted for delivery and Pick up cost.
Initially, when the dining table was first sent to me, the dining table sledges were split into 2 parts, a chair had a hole & bolts were missing, so it was returned.
The table & 1 chair was replaced. Again, the table had bolts missing, the leather fabric had a hole on it and the table top is not parallel with the legs.
We advised to have the dining table & chair replaced but the store refused to do so as they couldn't identify the fault in the table. I also sent an email with the attachment to Gillian who i was told was the store manager. She thinks that this is what you get for a table purchased at a price of $2069.00 in total. I think for this price one should get a good dinning table with quality workmanship.
We contacted them & sent photos advising them of where the faults were but they refused to re-imburse the freight costs.
I have been advised by Fair trading consultant that if the product is faulty, I as a customer, should not bare the costs of freight.
The store manager refuses to negotiate on this and i found her pretty rude.
I have sent few emails and also notified that i would take this matter to Fair Trading and she said “ Do what ever you can and she is not scared of anyone” and never replies to my email.
I also note that when i purchased this dinning table i was told that the timber is made from Oak in china and never told that the timber used is recycled timber. This was advised to me after my purchase. It also states on their advertisement page that this table is made of beautiful Oak timber and no mention of recycled timber used.
I would suggest anyone to buy furniture from that store. Overall a very bad customer service.
