I'd like to complain about the service (or lack of) that I received from FlowersDirect.co.uk. I am a UK citizen living in Australia. Last week I attempted to order funeral flowers for my grandfather's funeral which I could not attend. I clearly stated the date that I wanted them delivered to the funeral home - which was a day before the actual funeral itself. I did not see any option to put a preferred delivery time as all I could see relating to that was "flowers will be delivered anytime between 8am and 8pm) which was fine. Having paid via credit card, I received a confirmation email from flowersdirect to let me know that order had gone through and that my flowers would be delivered. After the funeral, my mum rang to say that my flowers hadn't turned up at all. Apparently, after investigating myself, I was informed that as I hadn't specified a particular time, my flowers were not delivered. There was nothing in the confirmation email to inform me of this and no one bothered to contact me afterwards to apologise. To say that I was extremely upset is understating the issue. Once a funeral is over, it's over - you can't have that time back to send more flowers. After then responding to my email, I got a curt email in response to apologise and have my money refunded. There was no goodwill gesture of a credit note for the future to try and make up for their appalling error. The flowers should have been delivered at any time they could - not just given up on because they didn't know what time. Common sense clearly wasn't used. Better to turn up late than not at all. It was the first time I'd ever used their service and you'd think they'd be trying to encourage me to use them again - I don't think so. When I suggested this, I received another terse email to say that the mistake was mine and no goodwill gesture would be forthcoming. Just wanted to warn others out there not to use them as they are BAD, BAD, BAD!
