Say No To Repco!!! Charged More than twice the quoted price... Took Twice as long to do the work... Will not answer my complaints in writing... I attended the Repco Authorised Service Centre Lindisfarne Tasmania and booked in my 2003 model Mitsubishi Magna for a 45000km service on Friday 23 June 2006, after asking approximately how much I was informed about $130.00 (a good price after shopping around) the representative saying not much should be wrong with a 2003 model so its just a service. Also stating get the car in early and we'll have it ready by lunch time. As yet I have found nothing that was said to be honest. My wife as requested had the car at the service centre by 7.00am so she could go out in the afternoon. Guess what? Car wasn't ready until 3.00pm (perhaps they have a late lunch) Then the bill comes to $306.00 (More than double) when my wife questioned the amount they said someone must have made a mistake, I guess apart from us for taking the car to Repco. I could have come at $150 -$170 but $306 that is ridiculous. We chose repco after getting quotes from other mechanics in the area and Repco seemed a reasonable price because they lied. They gained my business by deception. In shock I got home and checked the invoice and there is the total of $306.00 To carry out repairs and service at a fair and reasonable cost. A quote from your code of ethics: "In the event of the possibility that cost of repairs will exceed the original estimated amount, the Dealer will contact the Owner before proceeding with the repair." No phone call was received to state a mistake had been made. I emailed my complaint to the proprietor and he did phone, however I have asked that all communication be in writing to avoid the costly mistake of verbal communication. He seems to be reluctant to answer my emails in writing, I wonder why???
