SEW RIGHT - Alterations and Repairs ( Victoria, Australia)

2005-03-17

2 out of 3 items!!! Almost all 3 items messed up! And NO APOLOGIES!!! I dropped one pair of heels to be repaired, one shirt to be altered and one pair of pants to be taken up into Sew Right, Alterations, just off Chapel Street, South Yarra. 1. I specifically asked for the heels to be re-enforced (as it is a kitten heel in which the ends wear down very quickly and the first re-enforcement I had put on when I bought the shoes had worn down and now looked like a squashed piece of black gum)... Sew Right (SO WRONG!!!) charged me $15, and when I got home, I realised - they hadn't re-enforced it at all, but just cut away the first re-enforcement, which I could've done myself, yet they still charged me!!!!!! So Now I need to get them re-done AGAIN!!! I also specficially asked for invisible press studs be placed in between each button of my expensive shirt (which was about two weeks old) - because it was a fitted shirt and when buttoned up, you could see a slight section of my bra underneath. When I went to collect the shirt - they had sewn buttons (with new button holes) in between each of the existing buttons - so now my expensive shirt looked like something from an 80's flick!?! - When I advised that this is not what I asked for the Super Rude women (who was not even the one who took my original order stated "This is what you asked for"!!! - I had never met her until then!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who in their right mind would ask for a ridiculous request to sew that many buttons on a beautiful shirt??? Deny deny deny is this company's way of dealing with things, even retailers in Chapel Street have had new stock ruined through their Dry Cleaning service and Sew Right refused to fix it even though it was obvious the new stock's dyes had run!!! The last item I dropped in were a pair of wool pants with a front pleat to be taken up - silly person had to iron out the front pleat - at least that one can be dealt with. I took it up with consumer affairs who said Sew Right denied everything - so it's their word against mine - seriously... look at the situation... they have cost me a $160 shirt, and additional $15 (so $30 to have my heels re-done) and I had to pay a dry cleaner ($20) to press back in the front pleats in my pants. It will cost me $37 to go to the small claims tribunal - which would be something I'd never bother to do for such a small amount - but based on principal and the supreme bad manners and childish rebuttals of the both owners and the intelligence of the women who took my order (who can barely speak - or obviously even understand the english language!!!) - these people should not be running a business!!!! Bad Service rating 12 out of 10 - it doesn't get much worse!!!!
