Secret Dogs Business is a pet grooming salon situated in Mowbray Road, Willoughby. I took my two small dogs to be groomed and was advised by the groomer that the dogs would require alot of clipping due to knots and matting. I accepted this as both dogs had winter coats which is difficult to maintain. I noticed when I brought the dogs home, one dog had a burn/cut between his legs. Within 48 hrs of the grooing, the sore became infected and required treatment by my veterinarian. My dog was quite ill and required antibiotics and cortizone cream and tablets - for 3 weeks. I contacted the owner of the business and groomer of the two dogs to advise her and to be mindful in the future. The owner did not take any responsibility and argued quite defensively that my dogs were filthy and had a preexisting condition. I advised that the injury had been diagnosed by the vet and it was the result of shaver burn/cut. The owner then advised that she did not notice it when she did the grooming herself. I argued that even if she did not realise the dog had been burned or cut, my dog would have reacted quite badly to the injury - therefore she most likely would have known. My main concerns are that the owner did not bring the injury to my attention when I collected the dogs or accept any responsibility or explanation when I called to bring her attention to the problem. I was not seeking reimbursement of grroming or vet costs - just an acknowledgement or even an apology.
