To whom it may concern, Yesterday I decided to upgrade the RAM of my Compaq Presario 2500 notebook with a 512Mb RAM, intending to go to 1Gb in the near future. I had my IT guy at work look at it, and also checked with HP/Compaq who confirmed that the RAM can be upgraded to a max of 1024Mb. I purchased a Geil 512Mb / PC2700 Dragon 333 Memory for $129.00 from umart online after being recommended by my IT guy, and went down and picked it up at approx 1pm. My IT guy installed it, but whatever configuration he tried (both slots, by itself or with my other 256Mb RAM) it did not work. I then called up and brought my laptop down to umart. We tried another Geil 512Mb / PC2700 Dragon 333, but again this did not work. The guy "helping" me (he sat to the right of the guy in the corner) then got a 256Mb RAM, and this did work. He then said that he would charge me 10% of the purchase price of the 512Mb (so $13.00), and sold me the 256Mb. What I am extremely agitated about, is he did not try any of the 512Mb RAMs in another laptop to see if it was actually the RAM that was at fault (as I am told it is possible to have a bad batch of memory), and he didn't even try another brand of 512Mb memory in my laptop. And to charge me an extra $13 when he didn't do a very good job at customer service was insulting. I will now have to be more out of pocket if I try to upgrade to a 512Mb RAm again in the future. I think that this was an unprofessional service, and to be honest it feel like I have been ripped off. I hope that you don't give all your customers such a bad feeling when they deal with you. regards, ======================= Dave Ginley
