backloads.com (Western Australia, Australia)

2008-07-26

In May 2006 I made the Mistake of using Backloads.com to Move my belongings From Perth WA, To Melbourne VIC.

My Items were picked up and I was told they would take 1 week to get to Melbourne.
I was also told i would receive an sms from them to update me on when my items would be delivered.
My Items Arrived to the destination 4 days after pickup. I was Shocked when i got a message at 7am saying the driver was 1 hour away from the delivery address, as I was still in Perth.
When i told them no one was home to receive the items they told me they could take my items to there warehouse but i would have to pay them money for keeping it overnight.
I refused and argued with the man over the phone saying they didn't give me enough notice, and i was lead to believe it would take a week or more to get there.
They agreed to keep the items overnight, and arranged to deliver the next day.
After my items arrived my partner found that they failed to deliver my toolbox which had hundreds of dollars worth of Tools in it.
I called them as soon as i found out to let them know it was missing.
They told me they would look into it and get back to me straight away.
They never called me and every time i called i had to give my details again and again.
There always seemed to be someone different answering the phones and majority of the people were rude and not helpful at all.
After inspecting my items once arriving in Melbourne i noticed that one item that was delivered was not mine.
I called them again to let them know i had someone else's property.
It took 5and a half weeks for them to pick up the item and in this time i again didn't have one phone call from them on any information about my missing toolbox.
On the 10th of July I called them again and someone told me that they will look into my missing toolbox as no one had looked into it yet.
I was irate at this point. I mean i was before but it meant that ALL of my phone calls previous had gone unheard.
I Have not gotten my toolbox back. I did have my items insured but it only covers a certain percentage of the items delivered as a whole so after paying $100 in excess i would have been lucky to get that back.
I have since contacted consumer affairs about Backloads and found that alot of people have not been happy with their services.
